Do you have a Wonder Woman in your life?

Updated: Aug 23, 2020

Each of my girlfriends are amazing in their own right. Each have phenomenal qualities, talents, and beauty (and I'm not simply talking about outer beauty). These women are strong, honest, and loyal to the sisterhood!

This leads me to the reason for my post. The Wonder Woman in my life, my friend SB. She, like me, is a boy mom. She is a teacher. She is a strong, compassionate woman, and forever thoughtful of others! Recently, my sweet friend was diagnosed with breast cancer. This was a diagnosis that completely came out of left field. In August 2019, she received a clear mammo and ultrasound. It was weeks following that August appointment that SB noticed, what she thought was a bruise from the mammo, was unfortunately Stage 2 Breast Cancer. The screening missed a 5 cm mass. Worse, SB was learning that she was not the first this has happened to. Through her findings, she learned that mammo screenings are ONLY 87% effective.

Please DO NOT rely on screenings alone. KNOW your body and notice changes! Do self checks, often.

I am happy to report that my Wonder Woman is 75% through her fight ....and she is kicking ass!! SB just completed 20 weeks of chemotherapy and will soon undergo surgery and radiation. She, with her amazing family, is fighting hard and kicking cancer in the face! I am so proud to be her friend! She is simply amazing and an INSPIRATION to all!!

To ALL women .... EVERYWHERE! We are BEAUTIFUL. We are STRONG! We are REMARKABLE!!

10 Facts Every Woman Should Know: 1. Everyone has rolls when they bend over. 2. When someone tells you that you're beautiful, believe them. They aren't lying. 3. Sometimes we all wake up with breath that could kill a goat. 4. For every woman unhappy with her stretch marks is another woman who wishes she had them. 5. You should definitely have more confidence. And if you saw yourself the way others see you, you would. 6. Don't look for a man to save you. Be able to save yourself. 7. It's okay to not love every part of your body....but you should. 8. We all have that one friend who seems to have it all together. That woman with the seemingly perfect life. Well, you might be that woman to someone else. 9. You should be a priority. Not an option, a last resort, or a backup plan. 10. You're a woman. That alone makes you pretty damn remarkable. -Austin Blood
